Katy is a certified Nutrition Educator and a licensed
marriage
and family therapist. She received her
certification in nutrition
from Baumann College.
She received her masters from
Cal State, Hayward,
and her B.A. from U.C. Santa Barbara.
Katy has worked in the field of Clinical Nutrition for
the past
18 years. Her belief in the power of nutrition
in healing is a
result of a personal health crisis. After
three years of illness
and numerous doctors, Katy found a doctor who emphasized
nutritional approaches in
her treatment. She recovered quickly from that point on and her interest in the role of nutrition in health became her passion and her profession. She has made it her life's work to share this knowledge with those who can benefit from it.
Katy is certified in First Line Therapy, a unique program offered by doctors and other health professionals, which helps patients realize their health goals by facilitating therapeutic lifestyle changes. Doctors find this program highly effective for those patients who need to make adjustments in the areas of nutrition, activity patterns and stress management in order to achieve and maintain healthy clinical outcomes. Katy receives referrals for this program from doctors throughout the Bay Area.
In her work, Katy focuses on the therapeutic role nutrition plays in supporting a wide range of health issues. She provides motivational support for choosing healthy eating habits, and supplies nutritional guidance and education tailored to fit the specific needs of each client. Katy is a member of the National Association of Nutrition Professionals and is in private practice in Berkeley and San Rafael.
